Arranging A Funeral
Procedures To Follow After A Death
A Death At Home
When a death occurs this can be a very upsetting and worrying time, especially if it is something that you have never dealt with before. If a loved one has passed away at their home address the first step would be to inform their doctor that the death has occurred. The doctor/nurse will then have the death certified/verified as soon as possible. Once the doctor has had the death certified your loved one will then be able to be transferred into our care (Or the Funeral Directors of your choice). To register the death we will help you with making this booking and provide you with the relevant information needed to do this.

A Death In A Nursing/Care Home Or Hospice

If a loved one passes away in a hospice or nursing home they will contact you to inform you of this happening. If you have not already informed them of which Funeral Directors you would like to use they will ask you for this information. From there they will then contact ourselves to inform us of the death. Once the death has been certified/verified by the Doctor/Nurse we will then be able to transfer your loved on into our care (Or the Funeral Directors of your choice). To register the death we will help you with making this booking and provide you with the relevant information needed to do this.

A Death At Hospital

If a loved one passes away in hospital, the hospital staff will contact the next of kin to inform them of the death. From here your loved one will normally be taken to the hospital chapel/mortuary. Once you have been informed of the death you can then call ourselves when ever you are ready to make an initial appointment to sit down with a funeral director. The bereavement team at the hospital will usually contact the next of kin to make arrangements for the registration of the death to take place. Once the registration has taken place and the green certificate has been issued to your chosen Funeral Directors, we can then bring your loved one into our care (Or the Funeral Directors of your choice).

When The Death Is Referred To The Coroner/Sudden Death
When a Doctor cannot issue the Medical Certificate of the Cause of Death then a coroner will need to be informed. The Coroners Office will then determine whether or not a post mortem is needed to ascertain the cause of death. Once completed a certificate is issued to the funeral directors to allow the funeral to take place and another will be sent to local registrars where the death can be registered. Once the Coroners have carried out their investigations then we will be able to bring your loved one into our care (Or the Funeral Directors of your choice).

Arranging The Funeral
We are there to help you from the moment you contact us and are available for you 24 hours a day. Once you have made the initial contact to us about a loved one passing away, we will then arrange for a funeral director to either sit down with you and the family or talk over the phone/virtually. From here we will go through the funeral arrangements and be sure to gain as much information as we can to portray your loved ones memory and make it as personal as possible. We will help to take care of all the necessary paper work and liaise with any third parties involved such as Doctors, Hospitals, Clergy, Cemeteries/Crematoriums, Newspapers and any other third parties that may be required.
Once we have spoken with you and the family and have gained all the relevant information needed to make the arrangements for the funeral. We will send a confirmation letter to yourself, so that you are able to check all of the details given and confirm all is correct.
